Saliuns Praegranden creature design

A combination of characteristics of bees, crickets and praying mantis I present the Saliuns Praegranden (Latin) or Saliun for short.
It’s hard mandible is strong enough chomp segments of large woody plants which it feeds off. It’s wings (under elytra) have evolved to be practically non existent due to the dense rainforests it lives in and may only assist in courting and manoeuvring sharp jumps.
It holds many shared features of insects but lacks a full exoskeleton, having a dare hyprid form of both internal and external armature to support its massive size. It’s height can range from 5’7” (167cm) to 6’1” (185cm) generally, which can be counted for its unique taxonomic class and structure.
Found mainly high up in trees most of the time feeding on a variety of vegetation which it digests with its two stomachs. Located in damp forest areas of eastern Australia and parts of northern New Zealand, it’s said another smaller variety has been reported as far north as Papua New Guinea. Given it’s ability to dash quick and excellent vision they can surprisingly be hard to spot. You can possible hear them as they do make a clacking sound from the mandible occasionally to communicate. They are a non aggressive species that compacts its body ready to flee danger, be warned if taken off guard it will take an aggressive stance making itself larger.
I actually drew most of my inspiration after attending a lecture on Australian bees, I had spent much time after looking at all the varieties of solitary bees I had not known existed in my area.
